Application

New wood curing

Older Wood

Premier Wood Care sealants are applied only under proper weather conditions. Excess wind, rain, or other job-specific weather conditions may impact scheduling. We monitor the weather throughout each day and communicate with our crews and customers when this occurs.

We recommend that new wooden structures be allowed to stand for 4-6 weeks before treatment. This "Curing" process will allow for better absorption of our treatment and deliver a more predictable color. For new cedar structures, curing is especially important due to the high moisture content of the wood.

Gray or previously treated wood in excess of 1 year old is first treated with a cleaning solution. The cleaning process removes fungus and mildew and preparets the wood for staining. After cleaning, the wood is allowed to stand for a minimum of 48 hour before sealing. Older wood, due to increased porosnes, will typically absorb a greater amount product and exhibit a darker color.
